The Book of Common Prayer
At Christ Episcopal Church, we embrace the worship style and traditions of the Episcopal Church laid out in the Book of Common Prayer, the red book with the cross you’ll find in the front of your pew. The Book of Common Prayer was introduced in 1549 by the English Reformers so that people could worship God in their own language instead of Latin. This book made prayer available to everyone, so all could participate in the rhythm of worship.
Sunday Service
Our service on Sunday is structured around Holy Eucharist also called Communion, Mass, or the Lord’s Supper. It is in this service where we renew our union with Jesus in his death and resurrection, and celebrate the mysteries of our salvation, offering our common prayer to God together.
Beautiful, Embodied Worship
This service appeals to the whole person: heart and mind, the senses and the spirit. You’ll hear beautiful music and bells, see colorful robes (vestments) denoting different seasons of the church year, watch candlelight, and occasionally smell incense under historic stained glass windows depicting the lives of the saints. At Christ Episcopal Church, the beauty of our worship allows us the chance to leave behind our everyday lives and enter into God’s presence, drawing us closer and inspiring us to bring the love of God’s Kingdom into the world.
Join us at 9:00 am on Sundays
On Sundays we celebrate Rite II of the Holy Eucharist (Communion) with contemporary language and beautiful hymns led by our church musicians and choir. We hope you join us!
