“The greatest pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him; and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself, too.”

In 1998, Christ Episcopal Church founded the Fun Dog Show with Wayne and Frances Brooks. We welcome dogs of all types from the rescued mutt to the most designer pampered dog. Not exactly the Westminster Dog Show, this annual event continues to be a barking success. We especially love seeing the children who participated in the early years return with their children and dogs. 

So many beautiful dogs have strutted their stuff in the ring. Through the years we’ve had the dog that rode the motorcycle, the bulldog in the ballerina tutu, the large gentle giants, or the kids who shine as they proudly walk their dogs around the ring. For the last 25 years, the dog show has been a day full of love, sunshine, and smiles. 

There is a small fee to participate. A portion of the funds raised are given to the humane society and animal rescues in Dorchester County. Admission to the Fun Dog Show has always been free of charge and is now hosted at the American Legion. 

Join us on October 18, 2025 at the American Legion to volunteer, participate or watch our four legged friends bring joy to our community at the Fun Dog Show.
